Installing application on Ubuntu

Three Methods:

1. The easiest place to download and install free applications is via add/ remove program accessed via:
• Applications Drop Down >> Add Remove >> Search for applications and Install
2. Synaptics Package Manager; provides more advanced options
• System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager. Then enter your password and click OK
3. Downloaded .deb extention files
• When downloading files from websites; they usually have a .deb extention
• Double click on the file and clik install >> provide password when prompted
4. tar.gz; Its the most popular format of distributing applications
